Wrapping up Tech's 14-10 win at Duke, and a final farewell

Well, that’s it and that’s all. My last game as a Virginia Tech beat reporter is in the books – Hokies 14, Duke 10 here from at lovely Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C.

I’ll have some closing comments at the end of this blog, but here now, a quick recap of what went down in a game that was closer than everybody thought …

** Tech’s offense gained 400-plus yards (433) for the fourth straight game – something that has happened only two other times under coach Frank Beamer (1996 and 1999). It has never happened in five straight games under Beamer.

But after the Hokies hung 301 yards on Duke in the first half today – yet still scored just two touchdowns – the scoreless second half felt like a letdown
