After a weekend in Seattle to forget, the San Jose Earthquakes received some great news this morning. After hearing an appeal from Marvin Chavez on the two game suspension handed him by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for violent conduct in a May 8 game against Toronto FC, MLS Commissioner Don Garber reduced the length of the suspension to one game.
Chavez has already served that one game suspension - he sat out the Earthquakes 4-0 loss to the Sounders last Saturday - and will be eligible for San Jose's

SAN JOSE, Calif. – For a third consecutive year, the San Jose Earthquakes and Wells Fargo have teamed up to host a series of youth and adult soccer tournaments in the Bay Area. This summer, the two organizations will host events in East Palo Alto and Hayward.
Building on successful tournaments in 2011 and 2012, the first of two Earthquakes 4v4 Presented by Wells Fargo tournaments is set for Saturday, June 22 at Cesar Chavez Elementary in East Palo Alto. The final tournament of the summer will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Alden E. Oliver Sports Park in Hayward.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that they will have their players work with the You Can Play Project.
“We have enlisted the You Can Play Project to meet with our players and coaches to discuss the issues facing LGBT athletes in sports,” said Earthquakes President Dave Kaval. “They have built a great organization and we look forward to learning from their expertise and to furthering our work toward true unity in our locker room.”

Whoever says that "the wheels of justice grind slow", doesn't know MLS Commissioner Don Garber. The head of Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday that San Jose Earthquakes forward Alan Gordon would be suspended an additional 3 games due to saying an anti-gay slur to Portland Timbers' midfielder Will Johnson during Sunday evenings game.
Once Gordon said it, the Rose City player held up three fingers to tell the Quakes front man that his fate was now sealed. Johnson knew full well the punishment for saying the ugly epithet because on November 9, 2012 Seattle Sounders defender Marc Burch used the same slur on him when he was playing for Real Salt Lake in the

NEW YORK – Major League Soccer today announced discipline for San Jose Earthquakes forward Alan Gordon.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber has suspended Gordon for three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for using unacceptable and offensive language towards an opponent in the 60th minute of the game against the Portland Timbers on April 14.
Commissioner Garber also mandated that Gordon attend diversity and sensitivity training. This is in addition to the training that all MLS clubs attend at the beginning of each season.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Steven Beitashour made his 2013 debut in a 2-1 loss against the Portland Timbers on Monday in Reserve League action.
The 2012 MLS All-Star right back started and played the first half before subbing off for academy player Trevor Long. Beitashour underwent a procedure to repair a sports hernia during the preseason and has since been rehabbing.
